As of Dec 31, 2017, there were 6,634 restaurants systemwide, including 337 company-owned restaurants in North America and 6,297 franchised restaurants in the US and 29 countries and US territories worldwide.
During fiscal 2017, the company opened 174 restaurant and closed 77 restaurants were closed, systemwide. The company has set a goal to reach 7,250 restaurants systemwide by the end of 2020.

Traditional restaurants typically range in size from 2,500 to 4,000 square feet, and are located in freestanding buildings or within in-line spaces of shopping centers. Non-traditional locations are typically between 600 and 2,000 square feet and are located in food courts, travel centers, colleges or hospitals.
