In fiscal 2016, the company opened 2 new theaters with 17 screens, permanently closed 3 theaters with 86 screens, and acquired 520 theaters with 5,201 screens. Of the theaters acquired, 245 theaters and 2,249 screens came from the Odeon acquisition and 271 theaters and 2,923 came from the Carmike acquisition. During the first nine months of fiscal 2017, the company opened 7 new theaters with 64 screens, acquired 126 theaters with 720 screens, which includes the acquisition of Nordic, permanently closed 257 screens, temporarily closed 492 screens and reopened 453 screens upon completion of experience upgrades.
